Why am I running for Congress?

Scott5.jpgThe Preamble speaks the mission of the United States’ government, and examining that in light of modern politics, I see that we, as a nation, have strayed far from that mission to the detriment of our citizens lives and life in general on the planet. I have witnessed this over the course of my life, living in urban and rural communities, upscale, downscale, as employee, employer, and being self employed, but never more so than in the past few years. Like many citizens, I have felt largely powerless to change this condition.

My name is Scott Comegys. Like many in this district I have been distressed with the shape our nation is taking. I have earned my place in every job that I have undertaken and brought successful changes to those jobs for the benefit of both employer and employee. I have worked a range of careers from simple grocery store clerk to managing a facilities operation for the University of Rochester. For the past five years I have built, owned, and managed an alpaca farm in Palmyra, NY. I have worked with all types of people, helped many on their course to a more successful and prosperous life.

Ultimately, I believe that we all have the common goal of being prosperous and free in our lives. I believe we have a common goal of having a government that enables that prosperity and progress in our lives. I believe that prosperity means that we have the chance to live our lives to the fullest in a world that continues to be vibrant and healthy and that we honor and respect the other lives that we interact with. In order to achieve that I believe we must maintain our health, our environment, and our continuing education.

I believe that Central New York is an excellent place to show that this prosperity and progress can, and in many ways does, exist, and that with the right representation can be encouraged to be more.

The 2016 election represents a significant change for the worse as we have formed a government that seems intent on destroying the nation by promoting disunity and injustice, and I feel a duty to stop that destruction and return us to a path that seeks “a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare , and secure the Blessings of Liberty” for all citizens in the United States, by promoting an agenda of Progress and Prosperity for all. In order to answer that call of duty, I feel compelled to serve in the House of Representatives not only for those in New York’s District 24 where I reside, but for all citizens of the nation, in stark contrast to the representation that we have had in recent years.
